While developing(mostly JAM stacks or wordpress projects atm), the laptop rarely gets hot and cpu goes around 58°C most of the time. I haven't checked its temps so can't say if its getting throttled or not. The issue is AMD gets disrespected: They are never in premium laptops. /r/AMD is community run and does not represent AMD in any capacity unless specified.

Unless you want a bigger screen - then magicbook is better choice. Does anyone know if ryzen master and eco mode work on Renoir mobile? (This was in linux too, win10 power usage will be higher).
I am really satisfied. I have an Acer Swift 3 with a 4700u and under normal use it never goes above 70C (even only gets to 70C in Cinebench R20 multicore), and the only time it gets to 80C is Cinebench R20 Single core.
I have the MateBook 14 with Ryzen 7 4800H and 16GB of RAM (soldered).
Touchpad has no “wow” effect but it’s perfectly usable and supports the W10 touch gestures. Yeah like they fine times my fucking 3700x that went ti 1.475v on all core load..that would fry the CPU in like 2 years..now I run a stable 4.3ghz all core at 1.25v..fine tune my ass (rant target is amd ahah)..oh and I Lost 20c by doing that..I bet the laptops have the same issue and could run waaay cooler with a voltage offset, You can just disable boost to get better thermals. Neither is anywhere close enough to cause it to throttle. I wished there was an xps with AMD but that's never gonna happen. Of all the boards I've seen, only theMSI Prestige X570 Creation seems to have a respectable number of PCI-e slots, all the others seem to have 4/5 slots, and for a multi-gpu, at least one of them gets obstructed right away, which is really annoying. Only two that are ryzen 4xxx, have > 400 cd/m2 brightness and 100% sRgb are 13" hp envy x360 and 14" ASUS ZenBook 14 ; And both have soldered RAM :(. Pretty sure Ryzen Master doesn't work on Ryzen mobile CPUs but you can use a tool such as RyzenAdj (or Ryzen controller for a GUI) to lower the TDP of the device (to get a similar result as to what eco mode can do). It wasn't available in stock for weeks. The SSD is also a high spec 500GB WD Black SN750. Also some stress testing (ran via s-tui) showed me that the maximum the laptop can run is 2.99ghz all cores. Its actually 900$ in most places around my country.
