Bigelow, a legend of the sport who’s wrestled big-time matches all over the world, manhandles Tanaka early on, but the popular and extremely resilient Japanese wrestler mounts a comeback and eventually gets to pull off some power moves of his own.
Accepting a Japanese tour with his uncle to wrestle for Onita at Frontier Martial–Arts Wrestling (FMW), Sabu received a great deal of his trademark scars on his arms and torso in over two dozen no-rope barbed wire death matches, and a famous “Ring of Fire Deathmatch” tagging with his uncle against Atsushi Onita and Tarzan Goto.
Many do not realize it, but it wasn’t Paul Heyman that brought a style of wrestling to his promotion that would soon become it’s trademark. In addition to his name, Sabu’s also inherited the never ever speaking trait from The Sheik, as well.
They drink their beers. Four matches of the first round and the entirety of the quarter-final and semi-final rounds of the Over the Top Tournament to determine the #1 contender for the FMW Brass Knuckles Heavyweight Championship and the FMW Independent Heavyweight Championship were held at the ECW/FMW Supershow. It was soon dropped, in favor of using just the shorter part of the moniker, SABU.

Sabu vs. Kintaro WING Kanemura vs. One Man Gang : Gulp! ECW/FMW Supershow was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event jointly promoted by Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) and Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling (FMW). Gotta love the slugfest that a bloodied Funk gets into with Kanemura at one point while cleaning house in the ring, but I’d only give the contest two stars. MANAGERS: The Sheik, 911, Paul E. Dangerously, Bill Alfonso, Rob Van Dam, The Sheik, Tammy Lynn Sytch, The Sandman, Tommy Dreamer, The Super Genie. This pair does a decent job of covering the action – but when wrestlers obviously blow moves, I would have hoped these two would at least acknowledge the blunder. [citation needed].
